It is a photograph of his friends when he was just a teenager, just before the war. In this picture, they have their whole lives ahead of them. His childhood sweetheart is in the picture and so is his best friend. It is the last time they would all be together. As he talks, the photo comes to life and the audience is taken on a trip into the past.
